Coble Cottage, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, Northumberland

Latest Review :

Steve D on 07/10/2017

Coble Cottage was very spacious and well equipped. The heating was effective and it was easy to get comfortable. The cottage is very close to local shops including a Co-op to get provisions. Pubs and restaurants are very close too. Being only a couple of minutes walk from the sea-front with a long prom was an added bonus. The information folder was very comprehensive and included details of some lovely walks. There are several National Trust properties nearby which we enjoyed, in particular Cragside (magnificent grounds with lots of well sign-posted trails), Wallington and Seaton Delaval. The coastal walk at Craster was beautiful and the Shoreline Cafe there is recommended. Coble Cottage is a great base from which to explore the local area. Highly recommended.

Eaststone Cottage, Whickham, Newcastle upon Tyne

Cottage easy to find. Owners on site also run Guest House East Byermoor. I was travelling alone so good to have owner on site. 2 week stay. Excellent parking. I did not notice any road noise. Very slight when in kitchen but did not disturb me at all and I live in countryside so would have bothered me. The cottage was perfect for me. Good size double bedroom and small single bedroom. Good shower. Warm cottage underfloor heating. Everything was good quality. Open planned kitchen lounge absolutely fine enough room. Very modern touch operated hob easy to use. Fridge with very small freezer but ok for me. Excellent washing machine. Bed soft which I prefer.

We have had a lovely week here! Loads of places to visit - enjoyed days out at Beamish (fantastic but huge. It took 2 days to see it all), also been to Hexham, Whitley Bay and Gibside to see the Wind in the Willows. The field at the back is great for cricket and football and a nice walk by the other side of the river. Thanks for the chocolate cake - it was delicious. Really nice little touches in the cottage for the Children, toys, bedding, books etc - really made them feel welcome. Hope to be back someday.

Lovely position and plenty of space for all the family to be together and/or do their own thing. Well equipped and spacious cottage sitting in some very beautiful countryside, especially when the heather is in full bloom on the moors. Plenty of lovely walks straight from the door or a short drive away and the gorgeous village of Blanchlands just down the road.

Good size, plenty of bathrooms. Safe place for the cars. Everything we had requested was there - stair gates, cot, high chair. Lovely homemade scones an fruit on arrival - very welcoming. Longsands Lodge was an ideal place for our family of three generations, 9 of us including 4 children from 19 months to eight. The rooms were spacious and the house cosy. It is very close to the beach and within walking distance of a play park with cafe, Tynemouth Priory and the Blue Reef sea life centre. Public transport is good with frequent buses to Whitley Bay and a nearby metro station for Newcastle, North and South Shields.

Excellent location, well thought out and everything you might need available in the cottage. Friendly welcoming owners who also provided lots of helpful hints during our stay, nothing was too much trouble. Welcome pack on arrival of tea and biscuits excellent, lovely private garden not overlooked. The cottage is within walking distance of a village shop for emergency supplies and a local pub serving very good food. Locally Hadrian's Wall was easily reached either on foot or by car,but also the coast was also accessible by car very easily. We visited a couple of national trust properties particularly enjoyed Cragside and would love to go back.

The Old Stables Knitsley Cottage 1

Latest Review :

David B on 29/09/2017

Highly recommended. The cottages and surrounds are built to a high standard, which will surely pay dividends in satisfied customers and repeat bookings. We can't remember staying in a better property. We stayed in Stables 1 which was perfect for our needs, welcoming and warm. My wife is from Consett, so we are very familiar with the area, and being huge fans of the nearby Knitsley Farm Shop the location couldn't have been better. We had good weather as it happened, but I'd imagine even in winter the cottages would be sheltered from the wind, and quite cosy. We can't think of a better cottage that we've visited. The owners have invested more than most in the cottages and surrounds, which provided us with a 1st class stay. We can't remember staying in a better property.

The Piggery, Rowlands Gill, Newcastle upon Tyne

Latest Review :

Julia B on 31/07/2017

We stayed at The Piggery in Rowlands Gill for a long weekend. It was in a lovely location, with lots of walks on our doorstep. The owners were also very helpful and kept us up to date when the farmers were ploughing so we knew what was going on and apologised in advanced for any noise (however, there was none). Whilst there, we visited South Shields to go to the beach and Alnwick Gardens and Castle. Even though it was a bit pricey, I would thoroughly recommend the gardens as they are stunning.

The Sawmill, Blanchland, County Durham

Latest Review :

Michael L on 18/06/2017

Set in a particularly attractive corner of Northumberland. The cottage offers rural tranquility with all the comforts of home. Well-equipped and furnished. Lots to see and do in the surrounding area - we particularly enjoyed watching the wildlife: some of the birds, mammals and plants are now largely gone from other areas of England. Lots of enjoyable walking - bracing up on the moors, gentler at lower level. A particularly attractive one is Letah Wood just south of Hexham. History and culture abound - Blanchland goes back more than 850 years, Hexham more than 1300 years, not to mention Hadrian's Wall; the lead mining museum at Killhope Wheel is a fantastic testament to a once prominent industry in the area. Several excellent traditional pubs in the area which offer good value home-made food, and most of which are dog friendly.
