3 Dukes Cottage, Backworth, Newcastle upon Tyne

3 Dukes Cottage is a characterful, 4 Star Gold Awarded, Grade II listed building that’s located in the beautifully conserved village of Backworth. The village is situated on outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne and has a wealth of history with its Roman and 12th Century connections, meaning historical sights are aplenty in this designated conservation area.

The property sleeps up to 6 guests in its 3 bedrooms, where there is a master double, a twin bedroom and bunk beds in the third room. The tasteful rustic decor and comfort essentials make this property an idyllic home-from-home.

From relaxing in the spacious lounge as you sit around the fantastic feature fireplace with its log burning stove, to playing a game of cards in the sunroom while overlooking the serene private garden, this cottage is the perfect setting to recharge and enjoy some well-earned peace and quiet. With free WiFi and central heating, this pet friendly cottage is an excellent choice for the family, whatever the season.

For all the local amenities, the quaint village of Backworth boasts a convenience store, pub and 10 hole golf club - and is only 10 miles down the road from the bustling city of Newcastle upon Tyne. With award winning dining, an array of shops and ample opportunities to soak up some local culture in its theatres and art galleries, there’s plenty to see and do in Newcastle’s stunning city centre - just a short distance away by car or bus.

For the North East coast, take a trip to the seaside town Tynemouth or explore the golden stretch of sand at Whitley Bay. Further north, the dramatic Northumberland coastline is natural paradise for for walkers, cyclists or those enjoying an afternoon drive, so make sure to add it to your holiday itinerary.

The cottage is clean and big and warm and welcoming! 3 Dukes Cottage was perfect. Homely with a beautiful fireplace and plenty of room for 6 adults. Thoroughly recommend!

: A warm cosy cottage, well sited for the key local sites of Beamish, Bamburgh Castle and Cragside, all of which are well worth a visit, as well as Hadrian's wall, in particular Housteads, Chesters and Vindolanda. The cottage is close to Newcastle making it easy to access the city by Metro from Northumberland Park. The beds were comfortable and the provision of a shower room in addition to the bathroom was useful with a number of adults sharing the property. The Kitchen is well equipped, with the majority of the items I would expect to find (although a T cosy would have been useful). The Garden was well laid out and tidy and would be ideal for a summer Bar B Que.

Good first impression, happy with the cleanliness and very happy with the facilities. I would definitely consider another break here and recommend 3 Dukes Cottage to others.
