The picturesque hamlet of Knitsley is perfect for walkers and cyclists of all levels. You will find footpaths, cycle paths and bridleways leading into the heart of County Durham and through the Durham Dales. Beamish, the world famous open air museum, tells the story of life in the northeast from the 1820s to the 1940s, and is just a 20 minute drive away. Ten miles away is the vibrant city of Durham, home to the magnificent cathedral, the University’s Botanic Garden and the Light Infantry Museum. You can also explore the Vale of Durham, visit Auckland Castle, the National Railway Museum, the Tanfield Railway – the oldest railway in the world, or explore the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
On entering this charming and bright single-level ground-floor holiday cottage, you will find yourself in the light and airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. With plenty of comfortable seating TV, DVD, music system and an electric fire, the pretty and welcoming lounge is perfect for relaxing in after a wonderful day enjoying this beautiful area. You will also find a charming dining area. Moving into the stylishly designed kitchen you will find it fully equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, toaster and cafetiere. Exploring this delightful property further you will find two cosy bedrooms. There’s a master bedroom with a king-size bed, and a single room which can be made up into a twin room on request. There is also a bathroom complete with a shower over the bath and a WC.
French doors lead out from the lounge and you can sit back and relax in the beautiful private, enclosed garden which has plenty of outdoor dining furniture and overlooks the picturesque countryside. There is ample private parking available for two cars. If you have another car, there is additional parking available near the stables just a few yards away. There is also a secure cycle store. You can even bring your horse with you as stabling and a paddock are available on request.
Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.
