Beautiful cottage situated close to the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with plenty of walks and places to see, stay in or venture out, this is an ideal romantic getaway.

This beautiful romantic retreat set on a former working farm and is perfect for a couple looking for somewhere different to spend time together. There are wonderful views across open countryside towards Witton castle and the cottage is situated just 3 miles from Bishop Auckland on the edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding National Beauty. You are wonderfully positioned for days out exploring Weardale, Teesdale and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Picturesque Hamsterley Forest boasts plenty of wildlife and is ideal for peaceful walking, cycling and enjoying a picnic or visit popular Durham City, Barnard Castle, Raby Castle or the fascinating Bowes Museum and Gardens.

Access to the cottage is via five stone steps then you will be welcomed into the warm, well-equipped kitchen/diner with everything you need to prepare a romantic meal, including an electric oven and gas hob, microwave and fridge with ice compartment. There is a radio so you can tune in to your usual station too. Enjoy your meal sitting at the dining table which boasts fantastic views from the Bi-Fold doors. In the lounge there is a comfortable sofa where you can both curl up in front of the wood burner while watching your favourite shows on the Smart TV. Upstairs, on the first floor the spacious, attractive bedroom has a super king-size bed and views of the local scenic landscape and the bathroom has a bath, separate shower and WC.

Outside, the south facing, shared lawn leads down to a lovely little pond. There is also a patio area with seating directly outside the Bi-Fold doors where you can sit and watch the antics of the local sheep while you enjoy al fresco dining and drinks. If you fancy a change from cooking this lovely cottage also boasts on-site Ice Cream Parlour called The Dairy Barn where you can enjoy an artisan gelato, homemade cake or light lunch.

Great stay for hubby's birthday. Richard made a point of visiting us just after we arrived and was very pleasant and helpful. Property has been tastefully decorated and is really comfortable. A cute little bolt hole for two.

Beautifully furnished and well equipped, with many thoughtful extras, this perfect little cottage was ideal for us. In a tranquil countryside setting with lovely views and many attractions within 30 mins travel time by car., including Beamish, Durham and Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle. The barn was very well laid out with lovely views across the valley. Plenty of birds and other wildlife in the area to watch. Very nice decor inside and well equipped kitchen. The cottage was a true delight. Everything was provided. The bed was very comfortable. The wood burner was a pleasure and gave out enough heat for us not to use the central heating.

Beautiful cottage in such a lovely setting. Hosts are so accommodating and helpful. Loads of nice pubs in the area too if you don't fancy cooking. Just a brilliant all rounder of a property.

I live locally but this is a different world just under 3 miles away. The cottage is lovely with fantastic views & so peaceful. Made very welcome by the hosts & all the staff at the Dairy Barn were helpful & friendly. Lovely atmosphere & I will certainly become a regular for coffee etc to the Dairy Barn.

Had a 3 night stay at Millys Meadow. This was a perfect base for travelling around. The cottage is amazing with stunning views and lovely welcoming hosts. Beautiful cottage, well equipped with stunning views. Cosy and comfortable. Location great for exploring Durham and Northumberland. Would suggest best to have a car as no amenities such as pub/restaurant within short walking distance. Check out pubs/restaurants beforehand as not always open.

Fantastic cottage in a centrally location for lots of things to visit and so . Lovely owners , who cant do enough for you . A free breakfast or afternoon down at the dairy barn was a nice gesture. Oh and a bottle of Prosecco too !! Will definitely stay again

A lovely cottage. Very clean and well equipped. Outside seating to enjoy the splendid views across the Wear valley. Easy car parking. Friendly and welcoming hosts who are on site if any problems arise. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

What a beautiful property set in the most peaceful of locations with a great view. We needed a few days away given the past few months and the cottage was perfect. Richard ensured everything was ready for our stay and it was ideal.
