Cottage was lovely , comfortable, calm, spacious and well decorated with a good range of equipment. Hosts really friendly and helpful. Lovely character and great location, although it's on a busy road, but very quiet at night. Whickham village is close by and has great restaurants and pubs and a late night supermarket. You will need to hire a car, although there is a bus stop right outside and Dean's taxis are local and very reasonable. Close to many tourist spots; Newcastle, MetrRead moreo Centre, Beamish Museum, the coast and many Northumbrian Castles and the Roman Wall - the list goes on! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Carl in the Guest House next door is very friendly and helpful. Hide

A beautiful cottage ideal for country walks, wildlife viewing yet quite close to Newcastle-Gateshead. The cottage is very well equipped and has a large, fenced and well maintained garden for children or adult relaxation. It is absolutely gorgeous and we'll be back. Highly recommended.

The cottage was very comfortable and all the facilities a "home away from home". The shopping centre close by was handy and had all the items anyone would require. The local restaurants & pubs served good food. Everybody we met was friendly and helpful. The South Shields Museum was very interesting and the layout and subject matter regarding the loRead morecal area was informative. The Arbeia Museum & Roman Forte was good.
