This annexe-style cottage, set in a tranquil hamlet near Riding Mill, offers unrivalled country views, allowing guests the chance to get away from it all after exploring the Northumberland region.

Set amongst the grounds of an attractive farm, about 15 minutes’ drive from the popular market town of Hexham and only 25 minutes' drive  from the vibrant city of Newcastle, this well-equipped cottage, on the outskirts of  Riding Mill village, is a great base for exploring Northumberland countryside and coastline and the north-east of England in general. Located near a number of Dark Sky Discovery sites, so bring warm clothing and binoculars for star gazing one night. Just a short drive away, you’ll find historic Corbridge, once known as Corstopitum, a Roman garrison town by Hadrian’s Wall with a crossing over the River Tyne. These days, it’s home to beautiful independent shops, and the annual Corbridge Festival, celebrating music and street theatre. Head to Hexham to experience the area’s Viking history, with its ancient abbey and atmospheric gaol – the earliest British prison. Alternatively, your cottage is the perfect place to plan a hike from, with the nearby village of Riding Mill a couple of miles from your doorstep.

Take the single step up into the cottage and you'll find yourself entering the kitchen of this single-level home, which is fully equipped with an electric oven and hob and an under-counter fridge/freezer. Moving into the open-plan lounge/bedroom area, you’ll find all the contemporary home comforts you’ll need for your stay, including a TV/DVD, Wi-Fi and a wall-mounted electric fire with ample comfortable seating to curl up on. In the bedroom area, there is a king-size bed, with bedside tables and alcove storage for you to hang up your clothes. The en-suite shower room features a shower cubicle, with WC.

The immaculately presented garden is set up as a perfect picnic area, with scenic views of the surrounding countryside. There is allocated parking available for one car.

A very pleasant holiday spent in this annex style cottage. A perfect location for exploring this beautiful county and its roman past. The owner keeps himself to himself, but having meet him hes a very nice chap. Recommend.

This is a lovely cottage, very comfortable, clean and nicely situated for touring the area. I was aware it was a studio cottage when we hired it, but didn't appreciate just how small it is. Both to the side of the bed and the bathroom are particularly tight.

I stayed at Courtyard Cottage in Riding Mill and I had a super time. A very nice pub is around 1 mile away and the pub is right next to the train station which will take you into Newcastle. The place we stayed was small, but cosy and perfect for an individual or couple. The host is charming and very helpful in all ways he can be with good local knoRead morewledge. A worth while trip!
