Set amongst the grounds of an attractive farm, about 15 minutes’ drive from the popular market town of Hexham and only 25 minutes' drive  from the vibrant city of Newcastle, this well-equipped cottage, on the outskirts of  Riding Mill village, is a great base for exploring Northumberland countryside and coastline and the north-east of England in general. Head to Hexham to experience the area’s Viking history, with its ancient abbey and atmospheric gaol – the earliest British prison. Alternatively, your cottage is the perfect place to plan a hike from, with the nearby village of Riding Mill a couple of miles from your doorstep.

Courtyard Cottage was in a very quiet area outside of Riding Mill, and it was very clean and warm. The local pub just a couple of minutes drive in Riding Mill provided very good meals, as did cafes in Hexham and the Indian Restaurant in Corbridge. The Sill visitor centre was a short ride away giving access to Hadrian's Wall. The area is steeped in Read morehistory with so many things to visit. In most places free car parking was also a bonus!
