Property code: 90433

This welcoming terraced property is located an easy 10 minute walk from the village of Wylam, birthplace of the early railway pioneer, George Stephenson with a good range of pubs, restaurants, and independent shops and, of course, the train station for days out in Newcastle and Hexham and Carlisle. Visit Hexham Abbey, and Sele Park, and browse this historic market town’s many shops, pubs, and restaurants. The property is located in a small hamlet in the middle of the beautiful Tyne Riverside Country Park with various footpaths and picnic areas, perfect for walking and cycling. It is also located on the Hadrian’s Cycleway which follows the route of Hadrian’s Wall. Visit the amazing Roman fort and Museum at Vindolanda and Housesteads. Play golf at Close House, have a family day at the award-winning Beamish Living Museum of the North, and head to Tynemouth for the glorious coastline.

Step through the front door and into a small hallway. Head into the lounge with original sash windows and a view of the small, south-facing front garden where you can relax weary legs after a day’s walking and cycling. There are two comfortable sofas, plenty of books to browse through during your stay, and a cosy open fire, and for your entertainment, you can watch a movie on the Smart TV and DVD player. The original country-style kitchen/dining area is full of character with a warming wood burner and a large, farmhouse table where you can eat your meals together and plan your daily adventures. Please be aware that some of the cupboards are set quite high. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare hearty fare and there is a cupboard with books, DVDs and games for all the family. The utility/boot room is off the kitchen with a washing machine, tumble dryer, and tall freezer. A door leads out into the enclosed rear yard and the gate opens onto the back lane. This is ideal for bringing bikes in and you can store them in the yard or bring them into the utility room. Upstairs on the first floor, you will find two double bedrooms, each with a feature fireplace, lots of reading material, and original sash windows. The family bathroom comprises a shower over the bath and WC. The two single bedrooms are on the second floor; one at the rear with a large window and views over the rooftops towards Hadrian’s way walk and one at the front with a Velux-style window.

Outside, the small, south-facing front garden is enclosed with mature planting, a garden table, and seating, perfect for al fresco dining or drinks, and dark-sky star gazing. To the rear, the enclosed yard is ideal for access with a dog and bikes.

There were a few issues with the cleanliness of the property, but not enough that it would deter us from returning. The cottage looked small from the outside but once you entered, it was very spacious and well equipped. It was situated in a great location with a 10-15 min walk into town. Great selection of pubs and restaurants. The residents of WylRead moream were very friendly and we hope to be back. Hide

A cosy cottage at the end of a quiet road. We found many books, a fine taste of art and big choose of different games. The cottage is only a short walk (10-15 min) to the centre of the village with a train station, playground, pubs and food store.

We booked the cottage for a family reunion (5 adults, child and baby) and it was full but comfortable. There were no problems parking two cars - one in the dedicated space and one in a quiet layby just over the railway line. Everything about the property says tired. Potentially very charming, lots of character, need massive update, doors ,windows, glazing, bathroom .etc. Visiting the area to attend a wedding, any issues we had didn't spoil our day.

Absolutely loved our stay. The location was perfect with walks literally on the door step and a short pleasant walk into wylam for the pubs and shops. The train station just down the road meant easy access to the metrocentre and for further afield. A number of other places to visit all within an hours drive. The cottage was definitely the most wellRead more equipped we have experienced and had a lovely feel about it, staying when we did it was lovely to have the open fire. Hide

Overall we enjoyed our stay. Location is excellent for getting around with good links to major roads and the railway.
