Set in the peaceful village of Witton-Le-Wear, this cottage is an excellent base for friends and families. Discover the stunning landscapes of the North Pennines AONB, the Yorkshire Dales, and North York Moors also within easy reach. Hamsterley Forest (2.7 miles) is a delightful 2000-hectare oasis, visitors to Hamsterley have no shortage of options when it comes to forest adventure or a tranquil getaway from the hustles of modern living. From wildlife watching and dark sky gazing to adventure play and high-octane mountain biking. With Raby Castle nearby (9 miles) and the delightful market town of Barnard Castle (13 miles), with its medieval castle ruins, delightful cobbled streets, and a weekly market. The ancient cathedral city of Durham (12 miles) is a must and a trip to the area is not complete without a visit to the Kynren Project, a mesmerizing show telling tales of life in the area from Roman times to the present day.

Enter the cottage into the spacious open-plan living space, inside is bright, stylish accommodation with picturesque views of the village green. The kitchen is a social hub where everyone can gather to chat and plan the days' adventures over breakfast and comes generously equipped for you to rustle up picnics or an evening feast. The lounge is a great place to relax after a long walk, light up the wood burner and settle in for a cosy night in front of the fire whilst watching a movie on the Smart TV. Open the French doors to the garden and extend your space outside down on the veranda. Three well-appointed bedrooms provide a comfy night’s sleep; a double and a twin room on the first floor, and a king-size on the second floor with en-suite shower room and WC. Start your day with a shower or relax after a long day in the bath.

Head outside to the veranda, chilled space to enjoy your morning coffee or dine alfresco on warm summer nights, admiring the starry skies.

I would highly recommend staying at the cottage. The cottage was very clean and we had a welcome pack waiting for us after a long journey. Everything was perfect for a weekend break with our family. We will definitely be returning in a couple of months.

set in a quiet village but a short drive to the local places of interest. lovely dog walks rights out of the front door. the cottage is really nicely decorated and exceptionally well equipped in all areas especially the kitchen. fast internet to keep the kids interested aswell. if we came to the area again we'd definitely try and stay in this cottaRead morege again Hide

Great cottage. So much room, super cosy and well decorated. Would highly recommend a stay here and the nature reserve for a walk with your doggos. The cafe staff were so welcoming. Will definitely be returning to the cottage.

We have just returned from a fabulous stay at GreenLea Cottage and would highly recommend it. We stayed as a family group with kids and a dog and loved it. The cottage is so comfortable, and immaculately clean. It is beautifully decorated and we loved the log burning stove, comfy sofas and beds, and well equipped kitchen. Greenlea Cottage is a absolutely gorgeous large but cosy cottage with ample space for the family Love the animal theme that runs through the tastefully decorated cottage. The beds are so comfy and the kitchen is very well equipped . Location wise is perfect too, lots of country walks on its doorstep. We will certainly book again.

Absolutely perfect house, 4 of us and a dog stayed and everything was lovely, the owners have thought of everything, even dog beds! Close to Hamsterley forest (follow the diversion!) and if youre after a chip shop- the village fryer in Howden Le Wear was lovely. Overall this is an excellent holiday rental and hostpitality, we will return in the future.
