Spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped family property in a peaceful hamlet location, with a super walk for all levels on the doorstep. Perfect for families, friends and dog walkers.

This semi-detached holiday home is located in a small hamlet within the grounds of the former Derwent Valley Railway Station. There is direct access to the popular Derwent Walk from the garden, perfect for all the family; enjoy the breathtaking views from the viaducts. Local amenities are less than 2 miles away and Rowlands Gill offers a range of shops and eateries. Walk to nearby Gibside Hall (3 miles), spend a memorable day at Beamish the Living Museum of the North (7 miles), and head to Hadrian’s Wall for walks and the award-winning Vindolanda and Roman Army Museum (32 miles). Visit Newcastle (10 miles) and stroll along the Quayside, with lunch in the heritage Baltic Flour Mills. The beautiful city of Durham is less than 15 miles away.

Entering the cottage, you come into a wide hallway where you can leave your coats and boots. Glazed doors lead into the light and airy lounge with wood flooring and plenty of comfortable seating to relax and unwind. Here you will find books to read, a Smart TV and DVD housed in the feature fireplace, and an electric wood-burner style heater to add to the ambiance. French doors lead out onto the patio. Walking through to the kitchen/diner you will find everything you need to prepare your meals including an electric oven and hob, a built-in microwave, fridge/freezer, and a dishwasher. Sit together at the dining table for sociable dinners whilst you reminisce over the day's activities. The conservatory offers another comfortable option to relax in with after-dinner drinks and a lovely view of the garden. The first of the bedrooms is located on the ground floor with a double bed and lots of storage. The spacious en-suite shower room has a shower cubicle, WC, and washer/dryer. Upstairs, the pretty twin bedroom has a lovely view of the garden, and the en-suite features a bath with a shower attachment and WC, and there is a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room and WC.

Outside, there is a patio area to the rear of the cottage where you can enjoy al fresco dining. The enclosed garden features a wall that was part of the original station platform and plenty of space to admire the garden and visiting birds. There is off-road parking on the driveway for one car and a carefully allocated parking space in front of the property.

Such a lovely property which has all the equipment you could ever want. Lovely and clean and felt like a real home rather than a rental. A little remote but as we had a car wasn't a problem for us. Lovely setting so peaceful and could walk from the cottage.

It was lovely , cosy warm , well equipped , spacious only downfall for us as elderlies was the steps to narrow it was going up on our hands and knees and shower door in downstairs bathroom did not close apart from that all very comfy , walks terrific Quiet and plenty of wildlife

What an amazing cottage if you want somewhere secluded and quiet. Perfect for exploring the area and going for long walks along the disused railway. It was perfect for our 3 generations

This cottage is absolutely brilliant. We stayed with our two teenage sons and our dog and it was the perfect size! Had everything we needed for a wonderful stay, we all really enjoyed our holiday. The location is great - we were able to incorporate city, coast and country all in one holiday. The bus to Newcastle takes around half an hour and from tRead morehere you can get the Metro to the coast :) The walks from the cottage are lovely, especially walking up to Gibside which we would recommend. Lovely cottage in a great location. Wi-Fi was fine. Had read previous people had issues with poor signal but all perfect for our stay. Very well equipped and plenty of room. Drive down to cottage down a very uneven and bumpy road.

Nice quite comfortable two story house - lovely location with an enclosed garden ideal for our small dog - country walks in two directions from the property with no hindrances from road traffic- ample local dog friendly eating venues - a nice place to relax.

A well equipped cottage with plenty of space in which 3 generations could relax, unless we were totally dependent on WiFi, which was not great. We found the track to the cottage a challenge, though it seemed shorter each time we negotiated it. For us it was a good base from which to visit Beamish, the seaside (for the grandchildren) and Gibside, whRead moreich was within walking distance along a railway track bed (a particular delight to my husband). Cottage is like the Tardis - small on the outside but spacious inside thanks to well-worked extension. Well-equipped kitchen if eating-in; beds very comfortable and the very peaceful area ensured good night's sleep even for the light sleepers in the family! The cottage was clean, spacious and very well equipped. Each bedroom having sole use of a bathroom was excellent. The garden was lovely and completely dog proof. The cottage was wonderful and comfortable with everything there that you would need. The welcome gifts were a lovely touch. Lovely well modernised cottage. Loved the 2 upstairs en-suites and the conservatory. Well equipped and comfortable. Lovely little garden. It is a shame the lawn needed mowing when we arrived but we found a lawnmower and did it ourselves. We had some lovely warm sunny weather so it was nice to sit out and relax. Beautiful house in a secluded location. Very well appointed and decorated. All home comforts provided. Might be a bit remote for some but we loved the area which is close to family living nearby.

This was our second stay at the cottage, its such a perfect location I plan to stay again which is unusual as I never go back to the same places, its quiet, fantastic for dogs and walking from the door and the cottage is comfortable and well equipped.

We absolutely loved this cottage. It felt so homely and unholiday cottagey! Its really comfy and in a fantastic location which we know well as we used to live nearby! Beautiful cottage, a little remote which was perfect for us as we were there to relax and enjoy walks with the dog.
