Enjoy walking, running and cycling from the doorstep, and playing golf just a short drive away. For the local pub and takeaway food try nearby Willington village (2 miles) and for shopping, pubs and restaurants, head to the market town of Bishop Auckland (4 miles) where you can also explore the Auckland Project, castle and deer park. Visit Durham Cathedral, the castle, Botanic Gardens, shops and museums or stroll along the riverbanks and enjoy lunch in one of the restaurants. Drive into the North Pennines AONB, a UNESCO Global Geopark, for naturally beautiful landscapes and outdoor adventures, including High Force waterfall and plan a day at Beamish Living Museum, Raby Castle, Hamsterley Forest, and spectacular Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle (30 miles).

Access to this light and airy, single-storey barn conversion is directly into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with doors leading out to the patio garden and wall to wall windows. Unwind and enjoy a cosy evening relaxing on comfortable sofas watching a movie on the smart TV with a cosy wood burner adding to the ambience. You can prepare your meals in the well-equipped kitchen with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and a dishwasher and sit together at the dining table. At bedtime, head down the hallway to find the two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and a TV for leisurely lie-ins. The second bedroom has a double bed, a TV and an en-suite WC. The family bathroom has a freestanding bath, a separate shower, and WC.

Outside, extend your day in the south-facing, enclosed garden/patio with an outdoor table and seating for four, plus additional bench seating, and a fire pit/BBQ for al fresco dining. After a day's walking, relax in the hot tub which is located inside a converted stable at the end of the garden for your privacy and comfort. There is private, off-road parking for two cars. Found the property to be welcoming and really pleasant. Plenty of space for the 4 of us, and the Cutlery/crockery was suffice along with everything needed to cook a full blown roast. Hot tub heated quickly, and got used most days. Property/surroundings were quiet, but nearest property wasn't booked when we were there. enjoyed his stay too!!

The cottage was clean and equipped with all essentials. The secure enclosed garden proved ideal for our dog but there was a lack of outside seating other than a picnic table. The access was the most dangerous that we have ever encountered in holiday accommodation, due to the recklessly high speed of the passing traffic, the access being very close Read moreto a junction, and a blind bend approaching the junction. We had five near misses in a week! The peace was constantly disturbed by barking dogs. Hide

Positive: quiet area, nice views and you can hear an owl at night. Hot tub and fire place are nice extras and the cottage is spacious and very comfy. Takeaway delivery available from nearby places (Hot Rooster was amazing!). And lots to do within a short car ride. Room for improvement: cleanliness under furniture, mopping, cutlery (some had to be rRead moreewashed) & garden clean up from dogs. Hide

No.4 is an attractive stone barn. Very spacious, situated on the edge of a village overlooking the moors. Great location for Durham, Seddgefield and Bishop Auckland. Ample parking. Gated garden area suitable for dogs. Part of a farm complex but no activity so peaceful.

Very clean property, excellent beds , tragic pillows, excellent bathroom and toilet, sofas far too small for any comfort, two two seaters, need side tables. Garden great and lots of parking, disappointing view, large barns and lots of machinery etc, and really shocked to actually have to go through farm yard.
