Interior of property totally belies the exterior. Everything you need for indoor use and wet days. Beach is a 2 minute walk. Friendly neighbours. Parking not an issue but respect neighbours. Ideal for a quiet, relaxing, holiday but evidence this would be different on a sunny, School Summer holiday, day.

Cottage easy to find. Owners on site also run Guest House East Byermoor. I was travelling alone so good to have owner on site. 2 week stay. Excellent parking. I did not notice any road noise. Very slight when in kitchen but did not disturb me at all and I live in countryside so would have bothered me. The cottage was perfect for me. Good size double bedroom and small single bedroom. Good shower. Warm cottage underfloor heating. Everything was good quality. Open planned kitchen lounge absolutely fine enough room. Very modern touch operated hob easy to use. Fridge with very small freezer but ok for me. Excellent washing machine. Bed soft which I prefer.

A beautiful cottage ideal for country walks, wildlife viewing yet quite close to Newcastle-Gateshead. The cottage is very well equipped and has a large, fenced and well maintained garden for children or adult relaxation. It is absolutely gorgeous and we'll be back. Highly recommended.

We will definitely return for more relaxing visits and will 'spread the word' to family 'down south'.

This was a lovely cosy well equipped cottage in a wonderful location. We had a great welcome from the owners Paul and Rena and they were amazing in keeping an eye out for me after my husband was hospitalised after an accident We would certainly look forward to spending more time at Hagg Hill Cottage.

Great location just outside of city centre, a 15 minute stroll. Large and spacious. Easy to reach Northumbria coast and Durham, too. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby or a cheap taxi ride into the city, we were charged £3.60! Customer service and response to queries was great :-)

Nice and warm and finished to a high standard. Had everything we wanted, we loved the locations and friendliness of the owner Massy. We intend to try to stay here next time we visit that part of the country. The cottage was clean, warm and well appointed. Was everything we needed. Massy was very friendly and left us alone when we did not need him. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Lovely clean cottage. Really enjoyed our time there. First visit to the area and felt there is easily enough to see for more than one week. Our daughter is at Newcastle Uni and we found transport links to Stocksfield station excellent for her to join us for a time. Enjoyed visits to Beamish Museum, walking around Derwent Reservoir, Hexham and the villages of Stanhope and Wolsingham. Fantastic autumn colours. Beautiful countryside. Every day was a wow thank you

I really enjoyed my stay at this little Sheperds Hut. Waking up with the birds sing. Had a visit of a deer next to the cabin. 2m distance. Very nice and relaxing to stay here. The Hut was nice and tidy. I had all that I needed in the cottage. When you’re looking for a nice small cottage in a private setting, surrounded by nature, then this is a place you want to look for.

The Piggery, Rowlands Gill, Newcastle upon Tyne

Latest Review :

Ian B on 18/05/2017

The Piggery is a wonderfully secluded escape. Accessed by a winding farm road and situated on a 100 acre farm, the completely renovated stone building looks out across a ruined 11th C chapel and rolling countryside. The bedrooms are bright and modern, the living room spacious. There's great private walks past the chapel to the Derwent river, and easy access to the National Trust's Gibside estate across the road. Newcastle is 20 minutes and a world away.

The Sawmill, Blanchland, County Durham

Latest Review :

Michael L on 18/06/2017

Set in a particularly attractive corner of Northumberland. The cottage offers rural tranquility with all the comforts of home. Well-equipped and furnished. Lots to see and do in the surrounding area - we particularly enjoyed watching the wildlife: some of the birds, mammals and plants are now largely gone from other areas of England. Lots of enjoyable walking - bracing up on the moors, gentler at lower level. A particularly attractive one is Letah Wood just south of Hexham. History and culture abound - Blanchland goes back more than 850 years, Hexham more than 1300 years, not to mention Hadrian's Wall; the lead mining museum at Killhope Wheel is a fantastic testament to a once prominent industry in the area. Several excellent traditional pubs in the area which offer good value home-made food, and most of which are dog friendly.
