This inviting property enjoys a peaceful, location with so much to do nearby. There is a pub/restaurant, shops, and local amenities within 1 mile. The popular 12-mile Derwent Walk Country Park can be reached from the doorstep and takes in the National Trust’s Gibside Hall and Estate with its Georgian garden, stunning woodland trails, wildlife, and birds. Spend a day at nearby Beamish, the Living Museum of the North (6.5 miles), and head to Hadrian’s Wall country for walking and cycling, Roman Forts, and award-winning museums (within 15 miles). Newcastle's exciting city centre is less than 10 miles, Durham’s Cathedral and University City are under 15 miles, and the sandy beaches at Tynemouth and Whitley Bay are around 21 miles.

This beautifully styled Grade-II listed property offers a warm welcome. The luxurious, single-storey holiday accommodation is perfect for couples, friends, or a small family looking for a memorable base to explore the area whilst feeling relaxed in the homely atmosphere. Enter through the glazed front door and you will find yourself in the impressive, orangery-style dining room with a lovely stone feature wall. Enjoy leisurely meals together or sit planning your next day’s activities with a nice view over the garden towards the nearby valley. A small step takes you through to the light and airy, open-plan lounge/kitchen where you can unwind sitting on comfortable sofas and watch a wide range of programmes, including streaming services on the large Smart TV. Sit at the kitchen island for breakfast, casual dining, or chatting with the family cook while they prepare some tasty meals in the fully equipped kitchen. There is a utility cupboard with a guest safe you can use if needed and an additional WC. At bedtime, there are two attractive bedrooms to lay your head down for a peaceful night’s sleep and each comes with plenty of storage space for your things. The stunning main bedroom has a super-king-size bed and an en-suite shower room, whilst the twin bedroom is located off the dining room with an en-suite bathroom.

The Stables is a well equipped, comfortable and cosy base from which you can explore the wider area. We were a family of four staying for 3 nights and found the location had everything we needed. The instructions for arrival, including directions and key retrieval, were good and we had no reason to contact the owner during our stay. Fantastic little cottage; very homely and decorated perfectly. The rooms all spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the walks with our dog, some very nice takeaways and restaurants and not too far from Durham either which was only 20 minutes drive. Would highly recommend. Only slight mark was the location and finding the cottage, as Read moreits off the road on a dirt track which could be difficult to see at night (its quite hard to notice in the daylight!). The cottage is absolutely beautiful.. very well equipped and beautifully decorated. It was warm and cosy and I would recommend it to anyone.. the walks for the dog were brilliant its just an all round fabulous place.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location surrounded by fields and horses. The owners have made it feel very cosy and welcoming. Lots of nice touches like shampoo, kitchen products etc which you dont get in all rentals. Strongly recommend. Wed stay again.

The property is absolutely gorgeous and attention to detail is very apparent. The decor & design is amazing and is a perfect place to come home to after a day out exploring. There is everything you could possibly need in the property - even our dog was thought of with a bed, doggie towel & dog bowls left out for us.

A very comfortable and spacious cottage created by the lovely conversion of former farm buildings. This has created an excellent location for touring the local historical area. Beamish, Gibside and the Tanfield railway all in nearby proximity. Newcastle is easily reached by both car and bus

Absolutely beautiful place. So well equipped, super comfortable and very clean. Real wow factor on arrival. Excellent showers! The kids enjoyed the outside space which is safe and perfect to kick a ball around. A must is a walk down the lane to the old rail station and Pont Burn Viaduct, quite magical at sunset. Great base to explore a beautiful paRead morert of the country - Vindolanda Roman Fort, Sycamore Gap on Hadrian's Wall and Gibside were our favourites. Hide

Look forward to staying in a beautiful area of County Durham, in an extremely well appointed, attractively furnished, comfortable and welcoming cottage. We spent a week here exploring the immediate area and further afield and found this delightful cottage met all our needs.
